I caught 4 schoolie stripers there on may 5, 09 and my buddy stayed longer and caught 12. The spot is really hot right now. Use sand worms.

May 19th 2009 I met a couple hard core anglers. They were chunking with mackrel and catching nice size bluefish. I learned alot about different types of baits and rigs. One bait that stood out was ringworm, which I will share another time. Hey Tim it was good to meet you and I look foward to a great fishing season. Fish on!

Water is getting warmer. Stripers are being caught in LI early campared to this time last year. Andy reported a 42" caught on the Wantagh Bridge. St. Marys is still not producing. Kev caught a small schoolie during the day at the pole and one at nite over by Ashcreek. Things should start to pick up soon. Blues are starting to move in. Tommy showed me some new spots. The bridge in SP had a lot of bait and big stripers hanging out under the bridge.

Saterday June 5, 2010
K.P. and I decided to drive to RI and fish Watch hill. Because of the rain and Lighting (scary) we played it safe and fished the harbor side from 10-12. There were baby sand eels every where in the water. There were also rises all around us which was none stop. They must of been small stripers from the sound of there bodys slapping on the top of the water. We fished and walked up the whole harbor side. After fishing for a couple of hours we had a few nice rips a piece from blues and stripers. Nothing was brought in.

At the end past the beached sail boat we cut across the bird sanctuary. We fished the break above the crashing waves. The water was very rough. Kev had a huge rip 5 minutes in to it but the fish spit the bait. We walked to the end of the beach to find anglers perched up on the rocks. The were fish on the beach up to 30 pounds. The were fishing with needle plugs. We made it back to the harbor spot before day break. the water was boiling with stripers hitting the baby sand eels. The way we should of played it was with fly rods and sand eels flies. We through sluggos and I caught a fluke off the bottom. Lesson learned: fish structure. No bait just plugs. Dead night and day break best.
